Intermediate I & II /Prep for Pointe/Beginner Pointe
The Junior Division provides students with progressive levels of ballet training that focus on developing basic technique and strength. At the discretion of the Artistic Director, dancers from the Junior Division may be asked to join the Saturday Washington Regional Ballet.
The placement of students from levels Beginning to Advanced Pointe is based on ability and not the student's age. Students are placed where they will benefit, be safe, and grow the most. Students will progress through our levels at different rates. This is completely normal and needed to keep their bodies safe and to help their mind and body connect.
When a dancer has shown they understand the technique for each level and strength enough to dance the vocabulary learned safely and soundly, the director will determine that the student is ready to move to the next level.
WSYB aims to prepare dancers from whatever age they join the studio to reach their full potential. As the students move through our curriculum, they will be challenged to apply themselves to fulfill their goals, not just in dance but in all their life passions. WSYB strives to allow every student to mature at a pace that benefits them.
With a background in many styles of Ballet training, Phyllis has taken from each method of instruction and refined it to create a syllabus that will produce well-rounded and knowledgeable students. They can adapt to different teaching styles with integrity and safety.
Students need to arrive on time for class, in the proper attire, with hair for the girls secured. The dress code encourages unity, simplicity, and discipline among our students.
