Washington State Youth Ballet provides the highest caliber of training to young dancers who wish to prepare for a career in the performing arts as well as providing classes to dancers of all ages and levels to our wonderful community. WSYB strives to be one of the top training facilities for ballet in Washington State while creating a healthy learning environment for all students. WSYB's objective is to give our students tools they can use to be successful in all aspects of their lives and future plans. We will build not only the dancers of tomorrow, but help create yong adults that will have confidence in themselves and their abilities to be successful in their future career paths. With a career as a professional ballet dancer spanning over 25 years, Artistic Director Phyllis Rothwell brings a plethora of knowledge about the dance world.
Her students have gone onto becoming professional dancers with companies such as Netherlands Dans Theater, Ballet Idaho, Nevada Ballet Theatre, and Ballet Fantastique. Summer intensives that students have been accepted to have included Pacific Northwest Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, School of American Ballet, Joffrey, American Ballet Theatre, Boston Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet, Kansas City Ballet, Ballet West, Sacramento Ballet, Oregon Ballet Theatre, North Carolina School of the Arts, CPYB, and Whitman Summer Dance Lab. Ms, Rothwell has coached both for Youth American Grand Prix and contestants for Miss America. She has been a master teacher and judge for Spotlight Convention and a judicator for Tashco Young Artists Festival and Idaho DanceSport.
Continuing to be a sought after master teacher and choreographer, Ms. Rothwell, will always be at the forefront of what the dance world has to offer to their students.
Need to rent a studio space for yoga, ballroom, ballet birthdays, etc...? We got you covered. Our studios have central heat and air and are handicap accessible.
After a very difficult but amazing inaugural year, WSYB is proud to continue offering classes to the youth of the Walla Walla Valley. Check out our fall schedule. We are always open for new students to join our family.
