Beginning Ballet Division

Preparatory Division

This Division creates an avenue for motion, rhythm, and coordination for students. Students are introduced to basic ballet vocabulary and continue to learn classroom etiquette that will remain with them throughout their dancing years and beyond. Students are guided through exercises that help them develop a sense of poise and confidence. Students will learn to take turns, follow another dancer or lead the group, wait patiently, work together with others, listen, have self-control, and have a positive attitude. The use of props makes this a fun and playful experience. Starting in the Preparatory Division, dancers will be a part of the WSYB Collective Co. Each class will learn dances and participate in all WSYB performances.

The Preparatory Division includes Ballet I and Ballet II

See Dress Code for leotard information.

The goal of WSYB is to prepare dancers from whatever age they join the studio to reach their full potential. As the students progress through our curriculum, they will be encouraged to apply themselves to fulfill their goals, not just in dance but in all the passions of their lives. WSYB is committed to ensuring every student matures at a pace that is beneficial to them. We prioritize their safety and well-being, ensuring they are not pushed to achieve physical goals that may be harmful to their growing bodies and souls.

With a background in many styles of Ballet training, Phyllis has taken each method of instruction and refined it to create a syllabus that will produce well-rounded and knowledgeable students. With this knowledge, students will be able to adapt to different teaching styles with integrity and safety.

Students are expected to arrive on time for class, in the proper attire, with hair for the girls, secured. The dress code is not just about appearance, but it's designed to instill discipline, unity, and simplicity among our students. We believe these values are crucial for their overall development.
